Remember American Idol’s Melinda Doolitlle?

Ha ha! The Judges kept saying she was going to win American Idol last season and now look where she is at…doing really bad commercials, claiming she is a singer but she has yet to get a record deal. I know I am being mean, but I just never got her appeal because to me she just didn’t have that spark needed to make it as a singer and obviously I wasn’t alone.
Positive note at least she didn’t wind up like Jessica Sierra!

Clay sings like he is back on American Idol. Here is a list of the songs he sang in melody:

First song: Baby Got Back (Sir Mixalot)
Second Song: Like A Virgin (Madonna)
Third Song: Bills, Bills, Bills (Destiny’s Child)
Fourth Song: 1999 (Prince)
Fifth Song: She Thinks My Tractor’s Sexy (Kenny Chesney)
Sixth Song: Oops…I Did It Again (Britney Spears)
Seventh Song: OPP (Naughty By Nature)
Eighth Song: Yeah (Usher)
Ninth Song: SexyBack (Justin Timberlake)
Tenth Song: Achy Breaky Heart (Billy Ray Cyrus)
Eleventh Song: Beat It (Michael Jackson)

All I can say is Oy G’Valt! I want that single when he releases it minus all the teenage girls schreeching.

Reba McEntire does Kelly Clarkson

I hate to say this because I love the original version of Because of You, but I think the Reba McEntire/Kelly Clarkson version is better! I like the way the two of them sound together! They should release a duet album together and then they can tour together, maybe that would help Kelly’s recent woes.

Retro: Clay Aiken beats down Jimmy Kimmel!!!
June 18th, 2007 under American Idol 6, Jimmy Kimmel, Retro. [ Comments: none ]

OK! That was way too funny! I just love watching a masculine Clay Aiken beat down Jimmy Kimmel and make him cry! You go Clay!
I wish ABC would give these two a sitcom, it would be such a hit. It would be the Odd Couple for the new millennium!!!

This Isn’t Your Now for Jordin Sparks and Blake Lewis’ singles

MJ's American Idol released the numbers of digital downloads for the current and former American Idol songs:
5 Daughtry “Home” 85,925 (17%) Total: 603,125 (4)
7 Kelly Clarkson “Never Again” 80,451 (26%) Total: 385,199 (7)
9 Jordin Sparks “This is My Now” 74,303 (New) Total: 74,303 (-)
11 Blake Lewis “You Give Love a Bad Name” 70,133 (New) Total: 70,133 (-)

14 Carrie Underwood “Before He Cheats” 53,429 (-6%) Total: 1,339,043 (12)
29 Elliott Yamin “Wait For You” 33,357 (-3%) Total: 148,989 (26)
35 Daughtry “It’s Not Over” 27,528 (12%) Total: 1,271,333 (39)
46 Jordin Sparks “A Broken Wing” 21,903 (New) Total: 21,903 (-)
58 Jordin Sparks “I (Who Have Nothing)” 18,162 (New) Total: 18,162 (-)
70 Blake Lewis “Time Of the Season” 14,748 (New) Total: 14,748 (-)
76 Blake Lewis “This Love” 13,288 (New) Total: 13,288 (-)
91 Blake Lewis “When the Stars Go Blue” 11,434 (New) Total: 11,434 (-)
121 Blake Lewis “I Need to Know” 8,814 (New) Total: 8,814 (-)
170 Jordin Sparks “To Love Somebody” 6,681 (New) Total: 6,681 (-)
176 Blake Lewis “Imagine” 6,558 (New) Total: 6,558 (-)
So why did I say that the singles were not doing that well? Here is how the other the American Idols did the first week of their release:
Clay Aiken “This is the Night”: 393,000
Ruben Studdard “Flying Without Wings” : 286,000
Kelly Clarkson “A Moment Like This” : 236,000
Taylor Hicks “Do I Make You Proud”: 228,418 (CS: 190,619)
Carrie Underwood “Inside Your Heaven”: 170,528 (CS: 131,504)
Fantasia “I Believe”: 142,141
Bo Bice: “Inside Your Heaven”: 121,423 (CS: 108,158)
Katharine McPhee “Somewhere Over the Rainbow”: 74,965 (CS: 47,394)
Diana Degarmo “Dreams”: 65,000
Considering that only Diana Degarmo did worse than the two current American Idol contestants, I would say things are not looking good for their eventual album sales. That is if Blake Lewis does get an album deal, which I am sure he will, it is just not going to be by Clive Davis.
