Remember the curly haired contestant from Season 6 of American Idol, Chris Sligh? Well now he is switching from the mic to the pen as one of his songs he co-wrote was recorded by Rascal Flatts called Here Comes Goodbye!
“Clint and I wrote this song on a Monday, recorded the demo on a Tuesday and that Wednesday Flatts’ label put it on hold,†he recalls. “To have Rascal Flatts be the very first artist to cut a song I’ve written is pretty unbelievable,†he said. “Songwriting has always been something I love, but this is just beyond any expectations I could have ever had. Clint and I felt it was a special song, but the band’s recording gives us chills and we’ve heard the song for almost a year. I can’t wait to see what happens with it.â€
Here Comes Goodbye, that debuted on the radio yesterday, is the first single off Rascal Flatts new CD Unstoppable out on April 7th and I am sure that song will be saying Hello to the top of charts very soon! Chris Sligh’s second single Empty Me is currently climbing the charts!
It is nice to see that some of the former-American Idol contestants are doing well for themselves like Chris Sligh!
All you Fanjayas it is time to rejoice because Sanjaya Malakar’s EP Dancing to the Music In My Head is coming out on January 20th and you can pre-order it now on Amazon. Not only can you pre-order it, you can listen to the 5 tracks there. Below is one of them and it is called A Quintessential Lullaby. I don’t know about you, but that song didn’t put me to sleep in fact it will give me nightmares tonight. I could barely get more than 5 seconds in to any song that I listened to, but then again I wasn’t a Fanjaya. In a way I feel like that famous girl that cried on American Idol when she listened to him sing and I just want to cry after hearing that album. But instead of crying because I am overjoyed, I am crying in pain.
BTW I will try to be nice and not say anything about that trippy album cover, but then again I don’t really have to because it totally speaks for itself!
Sanjaya is back singing on TV thanks to Nationwide Insurance and the advice they gave him was so right on for his future! Call me crazy but I like Sanjaya and his hairstyles! Talking about his hairstyles go to Sanjay-ize to try out some of most famous hairdos on yourself, your BB or your enemy. I am sure most of you are going for the last choice.
BTW am I the only one who thought Sanjaya did a great job in the ad, I hope he does another one for Nationwide soon!
Chris Sligh (remember him from American 6?) posted this great story about David Cook that I had to share it with y'all. The true winner was named the American Idol this year! Good for David Cook for not forgetting his old Idols!
Here is a first look of Sanjaya’s Nationwide Insurance ad and it looks the final product is going to be hysterical! I can’t wait to see how all the hairstyles come in to play in the commercial! I so miss Sanjaya’s hairdos!
Sanjaya Malakar will take over the Nationwide Insurance ads from K-Fed. He is filming the commercial today in India.
Before he shot the commercial, he did a quick Q&A why he said yes to doing the ad and then some.
Q. What made you want to star in the new ad for Nationwide
Sanjaya: I’ve always liked Nationwide’s ads because I think they are really funny and they have a good message – be prepared for your life to change in the future. The point of the ad is that you have to have a plan for your retirement, which I think is important. Nationwide came up with a concept that I liked a lot. They’re trying to reach Americans of South Asian descent with this ad, but I think everyone will think it’s funny.
Q. The theme of the new Nationwide ad is “Life Comes at You Fast.” How have you experienced that in your life?
Sanjaya: American Idol was like a dream come true. When I started, nobody knew who I was. I was just one of the thousands of people with a dream who took a shot. As the season progressed more and more people began to recognize me. It was great to get so much support from fans. The show opened a lot of doors for me. Now I’m looking forward to the next stage of my career. It’s really exciting. I don’t know exactly what will happen, but there are some great possibilities.
Q. What’s next for Sanjaya?
Sanjaya: I’ve got big plans. I just moved to New York and I’m so excited to be living there. I’m looking forward to pursuing some opportunities in acting and modeling. I’m also beginning work on a new album that will be released later this year. I can’t wait for fans to hear it.
I’m looking forward to showing the world a whole new Sanjaya. American Idol was great, but I think there’s a lot more to me than what you saw on the show. The Nationwide commercial is the first of many exciting projects I have planned.
Q. Will we see the crazy hair again?
Sanjaya: Actually – you will see it in the Nationwide ad. It certainly got people’s attention on American Idol so hopefully it helps generate more buzz about the new ad.
I can’t wait to see Sanjaya with his faux hawk again!

Ha ha! The Judges kept saying she was going to win American Idol last season and now look where she is at…doing really bad commercials, claiming she is a singer but she has yet to get a record deal. I know I am being mean, but I just never got her appeal because to me she just didn’t have that spark needed to make it as a singer and obviously I wasn’t alone.
Positive note at least she didn’t wind up like Jessica Sierra!

I hate to say this because I love the original version of Because of You, but I think the Reba McEntire/Kelly Clarkson version is better! I like the way the two of them sound together! They should release a duet album together and then they can tour together, maybe that would help Kelly’s recent woes.
