Travis Barker is a father and because of that the rocker really lost his way. The Blink 182 drummer forgot how to rock, until someone forced an intervention and got him the help he needed. After 6 months of rehab and intense psycho therapy he became the man we have always known again.
So now he is a spokesperson for Helping Parents to Rock and as you can in the PSA that aired on Jimmy Kimmel Live, they really made a difference with him. So if you know a parent that needs to remember how to rock then get them into that program ASAP. I just signed my friends up because they have gotten so square!
BTW I am just happy that got awful hairpiece off of Barker. That look was so not him!
Most musicians when they are asked who turned them on to music, they will say one of the musical giants did. Well Travis Barker gave The Red Bulletin an answer that no one has ever given, and I wish more would. The Blink 182 drummer said, “I was 4. Animal on ‘The Muppet Show’ started it all for me. I saw him and I was sold. I wanted to be a drummer. Then I saw Alex Van Halen, Tommy Lee, great jazz drummers like Buddy Rich. I saw Buddy Rich battle Animal – crazy stuff. I battled Animal two months ago. I was trippin’.” You might not have pictured his inspiration to come from a kids’ show that we all watched, but he concluded his answer with something I never saw coming when he said, “When this is all said and done, in 10 or 15 years, I would love to play in a big-band jazz band and kick ass. I grew up playing jazz. I was in jazz band my whole life in high school and junior high. They didn’t have Rock Band 101 in school. I can read music, and I played jazz for six, seven years. I’d like to do that again.” I think he will be the first jazz drummer to be inked from head to toe and you know what if anyone can make it work, It’s him.
There are so many interesting things in the article like how his plane crash changed the way he tours, that you will want to pick up the magazine on Friday and read all about it. I know I was blown away by how candid he was with the magazine.
Fame Flynet Pictures
For over a year whenever we saw Travis Barker, he always wore a baseball cap or a knit hat. Well today we found why, the Blink 182 has a head full of tattoos. I guess he ran out of places on his body to ink up, so he had shave his head and use it as a human canvas.
Look I am fan of his, but I think he looks disgusting with his scalp all marked up like that. He kind of looks like a snake with sunglasses.
BTW if you call it a sleeve when someone’s arms are all inked up, what do you call it when their head is? Is it a hat?
Dammit I am on vacation and I wasn’t able to see the recently reunited Blink 182 live in concert on Jimmy Kimmel Live, but watching these videos is helping to ease the pain! Seriously how awesome do they sound together, it is as though they never split. Now I think, if tickets are still available, I am so going to go to see them live on their tour that kicks off July 24th.
BTW how amazing is it to watch Travis Barker play like that less than a year after that horrific plane crash.
Bink-182 confirmed at The Grammys and on Blink-182′s MySpace that they will be back this summer with a new album and a tour! About time Tom Delonge got off his high horse and got back together with Travis Barker and Mark Hoppus!!!
I can’t wait to get tickets to see these guys together again! I just hope and pray they make it until then!!!

Travis Barker did his first on-camera interview since his plane accident on the last episode of MTV’s TRL and he looks amazing. It is amazing how good he looks in such a short time. What an inspiration!
Just another quick one to let everyone know that I think Im getting out of the hospital soon I can't wait to get out of here and be home with the babes. The doctors say Im healing up quickly and I'm gonna be out of here b4 you know it.
Game and Sticks stopped in to give their best wishes today…
Yoko from Matsuhisa (MY FAVORITE RESTAURANT!) brought some food in for us. She is such a sweetheart and so nice to take the time to bring me some rad food. James, Skinhead Rob, my pops and aunt all stopped in again.
The staff here is THE BEST, but this is what I have to say to hospital life:
Travis Barker has blogged again from the hospital and looks like he won't be doing that for much longer becasue he will be out of there soon. Looking at that last picture we get to see the extent of his injuries and I hope he gets better soon.
UPDATE: Travis Barker was released from the hospital today according to E!.
Once again Shanna and Travis are talking about each other on MySpace. Shanna Moakler posted this Friend Status on MySpace and it makes me wonder if this her response to what Travis Barker blogged on MySpace?
Despite any rumors you might have heard via my EX-wife Shanna Moakler, who I have not seen since the week I checked in, Ive been treated amazingly well, both here in LA and in Georgia. The hospitals Ive been treated at are THE BEST.
I wonder if it has anything to do with the fact that he is eating meat again?
I want to give my deepest thanks to everyone who has helped deal with the current situation. First and foremost, Chris and Che were my friends. I would give up anything to have them here with us today, healthy and happy. To call them my employees does them such a disservice, as they were so much more than that. Chris was my best friend before anything else, and I can never put into words how much he will be missed. Che was an amazing person as well, and I was honored to have him in my life.
I am simply amazed and will be forever grateful for all the support everyone has shown to Chris and Che's families. Its a testament to how many lives they touched in a positive way.
Hospital Life! Like the doctors said from the beginning, its been a slow recovery process. I am coming up on the 7th of my surgeries Monday. Today I finally was able to move all my fingers on my right hand. Every step seems huge at this point, and Im doing EVERYTHING I can possibly do to get back to my kids. Yes, I did start eating meat again, but if it helps me to be home holding my little humans sooner, then its all worth it. The staff here are all bomb! Dr. Grossman and his staff are the best. The BOSS Barbara, and nurses Betty, Jay , Emily, Julio, Lolita, and Stephanie (with the best scrubs ever!) are all taking the best care of me. My good friend Armen has been kind enough to save me from the hospital food, and brings Jamba Juice, Wahoos, or whatever else I need to keep my calories and protein levels high.

My friends and family have been amazing. My pops has been with me ANY time I need him. My sisters, James, Skinhead Rob, Daniel, Armen and of course Ricardo and Nicole, have all shown amazing support. JD and Mark Hoppus both took the time to come visit and offer their support as well. Estevan Oriol even came in with a calendar. Saying "thank you" to all these guys just wouldn't be enough…
I got to see AM the other day. Seeing him after he was discharged was an inspiration. I saw just how awesome the doctors' work here is, and got to see how well he is doing. I am so happy to see him doing well, and we are both so lucky and grateful that we are alive today.
Im even using some of this time to help design the summer '09 Famous line. Maxx, Jose, Bill have been awesome helping to keep the machine going. These are some seriously dedicated people, and Im lucky to call them friends.
Now Im just counting the days until I can leave. I cant wait to get home to play drums with my son, and go for bike rides with my daughter. I cant wait to see the pictures from Landon's "Jack and Sally Nightmare Before Christmas" birthday party that we had for him today. I am bummed that I couldn't be there, but thank God Ill be around to see many, many more.
Thank you everyone for your support!
Travis Barker posted this Thank You blog on his MySpace and I had to share it with y'all. His positive and hopeful attitude after going through what he went through is just so inspirational. May he get home soon to play with his little humans!!!
US Weekly got the first interview with Travis Barker since that horrible plane accident almost two weeks ago that left 4 people dead and DJ AM and him suffering second and third degree burns.
"I hate planes," the ex-Blink 182 drummer, 32, tells Us exclusively. "My biggest fear ever is to be involved in a plane crash, so when that happened … well, I'm just thankful to be alive! I'm just grateful to be here at all."
How are you doing? "I am doing the best I can possibly be. I'm so anxious to get out of here. …I've just been in surgery after surgery. I have third degree burns basically from my feet up to my waist and both hands. One of my hands was second degree burns and one was third degree burns. I'm trying to have a quick recovery and play the drums again and be able to hold my kids again. [Barker has two children, Landon, 5, and Alabama, 2, with Moakler.] I'm going nuts not being able to see them and spend time with them!"
How much longer will you be in the hospital? "Oh gosh, I hope not much longer. I sit here and I read books and watch TV. I think if this surgery went well, I'll be here for at most two weeks."
My friend reminded me, when Travis broke his arm a few years he reworked the drum set so he could play. So if any one can come back from this and bang on the drums, it is Travis Barker!
To read the rest of this interview you can pick up Us Weekly on stands now. May his recovery be speedy.
Now on to DJ AM, People is reporting that his friends are putting on a benefit concert in his honor with proceeds going to the memorial funds established crash victims.
The bash – to be held Oct. 14 at Avalon Hollywood – will include performances from celebrity DJs, including Mark Ronson, Steve Aoki, Danny Masterson and Mixmaster Mike.
If you WantTickets, you can get them for only $20 each.
